The speaker will be presenting the following issues:
- The European Union has been trying for years to define a common strategy to tackle the climate change and the energy dependence on external fossil fuels but the Member States and companies took different approaches.
- The fossil fuels have been considered as being a problem or a solution depending on the different country-specific, with delays and opposition in adopting European ambitious targets.
- The war in Ukraine has changed, significantly the approach of the Members States and companies, unifying them in agreeing on an accelerated rhythm to reduce fossil fuels dependency.
- The dialogue between Governments and Companies has to focus on sustainable solutions where the general interest should prevail over the immediate gains.
