Claudia Brandus
Enel Director European Affairs
Claudia has an experience of more than 20 years in public policies and public-private dialogue, with 15 years focused on energy markets, in Europe and abroad. She has started her career as a lawyer working in a business environment, having been also involved in the institutional dialogue between Romanian and EU bodies in the pre-accession phase, also within the Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe, an institutional initiative set up in the years 1998-2008 with the scope of strengthening the peace, democracy, human rights and economy in Southeastern Europe.
In 2007 she joined the Enel Group where she managed different roles with the same mission of promoting the sustainable energy policy in different countries, within and outside the European Union. More specifically, In Romania, her motherland, Claudia was among the pioneers in renewable energy development having chaired the Romanian Wind Association for 4 years, focusing on raising awareness about the importance of the energy transition and the need for a constructive dialogue between all stakeholders.
Her experience has helped her understand the different angles countries see from when promoting national and European policies in the field. Claudia strongly believes that governments and the business environment have the duty to identify the most sustainable solutions and not to focus too immediate success. The War in Ukraine should be a wake-up call for more Companies and Governments for having a more unified approach when setting the security agenda, with a strong focus on energy.
